and then there was light.

i already thought about my project even before Milenyo struck uplb. I was planning to finish my project as early as the first week of October (during our 1 week suspension of classes) but unfortunately, i didn't know how i will do my project. Only few topics about MIDlet were discussed so i didn't have any idea when and where to start.

Right after i downloaded the j2ME from java.sun, i studied the source codes of MIDlet shape drawer. I looked for the API and tried doing some things that can be used in my game. I started typing my codes, yet what i had done isn't even one-tenth of the whole project. Classes resumed last October 9. Gee, i had other responsibilities with my other subjects as well. I didn't have the time to continue my project... A week after, we had our laboratory exam. I was still busy by then.

I had the opportunity to continue my project only during the finals week. Little by little, I added a few codes. I started putting on the images and i focused on the paint method. I added more methods, classes and objects needed in the puzzle. I also used the swap method for the game to function. I kept on adding things as much as i can. I thought the project presentation will be on Oct.25 (wednesday), but fortunately it was moved on monday, Oct.30. I kept on asking my classmates what they had already done, how to do this and that. They helped me understood midlet more.. but still my knowledege wasn't enough to finish that kind of game.

On Saturday night, there was an event i needed to attend to. I didn't have the chance to finish my project. On sunday, I studied first for mylecture exam the next day. Evening came and haven't finished studying and i haven't finished my project. I only got 3 hours of sleep(or rather a nap). i woke up around 8am and fixed my things. i was at home and i needed to go to los baños early.

I arrived at my dorm and i documented my source codes. My project was unfinished.. as in
define: "unfinished". I was having butterflies in my stomach, i didn't know what will happen. I went to ICS PC lab 2, and my classmates were already there. Sir Berdin was there.. even sir duldz was there.

Some of my classmates weren't finished either. I saw some of their work and i saw really beautiful projects. They were very colorful and exciting to play. I felt weak and sad when i thought of my project.. it was nothing compared to theirs. As expected, i got a low grade in my project. I was so sad.. but i knew i deserve it. I didn't exert much effort on doing it. I really wanted to finish my project, just didn't have the will.

Sir berdin emailed us and said that we can make up for our project. We can present our projects again tomorrow.. but this time, it should be a lot better. I did my project this week.. Now i have the determination to finish what i have started. I made more modifications now. There are some things that still doesn't work but it's so much better than before. I do hope my instructors will appreciate what i have done... as much as i do... or better. :)
